As Lal Salaam is gearing up for a release on the Pongal, the makers released the first single, Ther Thiruvizha, on Monday. Composed by A.R. Rahman with lyrics penned by Vivek, the song has been sung by Shankar Mahadevan, A R Raihanah, Deepthi Suresh, and Yogi Sekar. 

Starring Rajinikanth in an extended cameo as Moideen Bhai, Lal Salaam also has cricketers and actors Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. The character name of Vikranth has been kept undisclosed, but Vishnu will essay the role of Thirunavukkarasu.

Billed as a sport-political drama, Lal Salaam also stars Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, Thangadurai, and KS Ravikumar, among others. Kapil Dev will be playing a cameo role in the film. 

Backed by Lyca Productions, the film has cinematography by Vishnu Rangasamy and editing by Pravin Baaskar. Lal Salaam will compete with Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan at the box office and is set to release additionally in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.
