Ashok Selvan's Saba Nayagan release has been postponed. Sharing the news, the film's lead, Ashok Selvan, took to his X handle and said that the film's release date has been pushed from December 15 to 22 due to cyclone Michaung that wreaked havoc in Chennai and surrounding areas.

"My Dear Makkalay, due to the cyclone flood which led to postproduction and certification delay, Saba Nayagan has been pushed to the 22nd of this month. See you in the theatres soon," he wrote.

The romance-comedy film follows Ashok Selvan's journey from school to college as he explores love, friendship and his life. Saba Nayagan has Megha Akash, Karthika Muralidharan and Chandini Chowdary paired opposite Ashok Selvan.

Directed by CS Karthikeyan who previously assisted Kamal Haasan in Vishwaroopam 1 and 2, Saba Nayagan is expected to be a fun commercial entertainer.

The film also stars Mayilsamy, Michael Thangadurai, Udumalai Ravi, Arun Kumar, Jaiseelan Sivaram, Sriram Krish, Sherlin Seth, Viviyasanth, Akshaya Hariharan and Tulasi Shivamani.

"Saba Nayagan has an interesting element which distinguishes the film from the usual romcoms. The film has ample space for bromance and I am confident that the audience will relate to the friendship episodes," the director had earlier said to CE.

Saba Nayagan has music by Leon James, who had previously worked with Ashok Selvan in the hit film Oh My Kadavule. Cinematographers Balasubramaniam, Dinesh Purushothaman and Prabhu Rhagav have shot a phase each in the life of the protagonist, while Ganesh Siva is in charge of the editing.

The film is bankrolled by Iyappan Gnanavel's I Cinema Productions.
