The trailer of Harkara, the upcoming Tamil film, was released by the makers on social media on Monday. The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 25.

The trailer begins with an outsider who comes to the mountainous regions of Theni. The man, shown to be Kaali Venkat, is a postman who has to deliver letters to tough terrains. The trailer, which is narrated as a story, shifts its tone and time period to continue telling the story of India's first postman.

Starring Ram Arun Castro and Kaali Venkat in the lead roles, Harkara is helmed by Ram.

The story of Harkara unfolds in two time periods, the 1870s and 2023. While Ram acts as the postman in the period portions, Kaali Venkat represents the present timeline. It traces the history of the postal service from the times of the first postman to the current times. Harkara is said to be based on true events with a fictional spin.

The technical crew of the film consists of two cinematographers, Philip R Sundar and Lokesh Elangovan, who shot the past and present respectively. Harkara has editing by Dani Charles is the editor and music by Ramshanker. The album is said to have four songs.
