FEFSI President RK Selvamani: I request the government to set up a Tamil Nadu Film Development Corporation

The producer made the request at the inaugural event of the CII Dakshin Summit 2023

The second edition of CII Dakshin Summit 2023 was inaugurated on Wednesday, by a slew of stars from the South film industry, including Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vetri Maaran, Rishab Shetty, Allu Arvind, Manju Warrier, Karthi, RK Selvamani, and many others.

Speaking at the event, the President of FEFSI, RK Selvamani proudly pronounced that 10 films from the South, namely, RRR, Ponniyin Selvan 1, The KGF films, Varisu, Thunivu, Pushpa, Kantara, and Vikram, have contributed Rs 1000 crores to the Government's revenue. 

Further, he said, "Although we have contributed so much to the film industry, FEFSI does not get the recognition it deserves. FEFSI has so far worked on 50,000 films, creating a world record." 

He then requested the Tamil Nadu government to set up a governing body for all the Cinema-related departments that are working individually. "I request the government to set up a Tamil Nadu Film Development Corporation to govern all the bodies that are working independently."
