Actor Kamal Haasan, on Monday, revealed the title and first look of actor Siddharth’s upcoming film, Chithha. The film is directed by SU Arun Kumar, who previously helmed Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi.

Chittha is backed by Siddharth's home banner Etaki Entertainments, which has previously produced Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi and Jil Jung Juk

Opening up about the genre and story, director Arun Kumar says that the film is a thriller drama. "There are many Tamil films that represent the sentiment of thai mama (maternal uncle). This film wishes to talk about the love and affection of a chitthappa (father's younger brother)."

The first look of Chithha shows Siddharth on a bike with his niece. When asked why he chose Siddharth for the role, he says, "Siddharth and I have been acquainted since Pannaiyarum Padminiyum. We have been wanting to do a film together ever since then. I wrote this story keeping Siddharth in mind, and thought of ways to show him differently, unlike the roles he has done so far."

Chithha will also have a Telugu release, with the title Chinna. "The young girl calls Siddharth's character Chithha throughout the film. So, we decided to name the film Chithha."

While details about the cast, crew and plot were not revealed by Arun Kumar, he discloses that the film is set in the suburbs. The filming for Chithha has been wrapped up and is in its post-production stage. Makers expect to release the film by the end of 2023.
