Taking to Twitter actor and politician Khushbu penned a heartfelt note on the anniversary of the film. She wrote, "Just can't believe it's been 32 years since Chinna Thambi took Tamil cinema by storm. Will always be indebted for the love showered upon me. My heart will always beat for P Vasu Sir & Prabhu Sir. Forever grateful to Illaiyarajaa Sir for his soul-stirring music n Late K Balu for bankrolling it. Nandini is eternally etched in the hearts & minds of everyone. Thank you once again." (sic)
