26 years ago on this day, one of Rajinikanth's superhit films, Arunachalam was released. Directed by Sundar C, the film also starred Rambha and Soundarya amongst others. The director was only 27 when he got the opportunity to direct Rajinikanth for Arunachalam. 

Sundar C's wife and actor Khushbu took to Twitter to pen a heartfelt note, praising the film. She wrote, "It’s every Director’s dream to direct Rajinikanth & Kamal Haasan. My husband was a lucky man when he got the opportunity to direct Rajinikanth Sir at the very young age of 27. And it’s been already 26yrs. Arunachalam is a landmark in his career. Thank you for the wishes that have come his way."

With dialogues penned by Crazy Mohan, Arunachalam revolved around an orphan who discovers that he is the son of a late multimillionaire, Vedhachalam. He has to spend thirty crores in a month without gifting or donating it, to inherit his father's property and wealth.
