If reports are to be believed, Shankar and Suriya are set to team up for an epic film based on the famous Velpari novel, penned by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer Su Venkatesan. Reportedly, Suriya’s 2D Entertainment has acquired the rights for the novel, and they are in talks with Shankar to mount it as a pan-Indian project. If things go as per plans, the two are planning to begin production by 2023.

Suriya is currently working on a similar big-scale multilingual film helmed by Siva. Tentatively titled Suriya 42, the film is scripted by Adi Narayana with dialogues by Madhan Karky. Suriya reportedly plays a warrior's role in it. The film is a co-production between UV Creations and Studio Green.

Suriya also has Bala's Vanangaan and Vetrimaaran's Vaadivaasal in different stages of production. The actor will also be seen in a cameo role in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, which has Akshay Kumar as the lead.

Meanwhile, Shankar is simultaneouly working on RC 15 with Ram Charan and Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan. The director has also committed for a Hindi film with Ranveer Singh.
