Art director T Santhanam dies due to heart attack

As per reports, the late technician was in his early 50s

Art director T Santhanam, who is best known for his work in the 2010 cult class Aayirathil Oruvan, died.

As per reports, the late technician was in his early 50s and is said to have died due to heart attack.

Santhanam has worked in several acclaimed projects, with one of them being Aayirathil Oruvan. Helmed by filmmaker Selvaraghavan and starring Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen, Parthiben, among others, the film gave Santhanam a chance to explore and depict various periods, including the Chola dynasty and contemporary times. Apart from Aayirathil Oruvan, Santhanam has also worked as production designer in films such as Vijay's Sarkar, Irudhi Suttru, Rajinikanth’s Darbar among others.

He has collaborated with filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj in films like Jagame Thandhiram, and Mahaan. Taking to Twitter, the filmmaker condoled Santhanam's demise. He wrote, "Cannot believe that You, Your ever charming smile, Your Passion to cinema, Your masterpiece works of Art, the brotherly love you showered on us. is all 'No more' Sir. Will forever miss you Santanam Sir. Rest in Peace Art Director Santanam Sir."

Production designer DRK Kiran expressed his pain upon the parting of Santhanam and paid his respects to the latter on social media.

Santhanam has also worked in the upcoming film August 16 1947, which is produced by AR Murugadoss and stars Gautham Karthik in the lead role.
