Vijay's character Rayappan in Bigil is among his most-loved characters in recent times. Recently, the Twitter handle of Amazon Prime Video posted a photo of Rayappan and wrote, "imagine a full film made only for the story of Rayappan."

Director Atlee remarked in his trademark style, Senjittaaaaa pochuuuuu…..

This led to speculations in social media that Atlee indeed has plans to make a spin-off on Rayappan. 

Bigil, a mass entertainer with women's football as the backdrop, has Vijay in dual roles. He plays Rayappan, a gangster and a footballer named Michael aka Bigil. For the Rayappan character, Vijay sported a salt and pepper look and his performance as someone with stuttering issues was lauded by many.

Atlee, meanwhile, is working on his Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan as the lead. Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, and Priyamani are also said to be part of the cast.
