Vikram Prabhu's Taanakkaran, produced by Potential Studios has given a skip to the theatres and will release directly on Disney+Hotstar. The film features Vikram as a cop for the third time after Sigaram Thodu and Thuppaakki Munai. 

Nedunalvaadai-fame Anjali Nair plays the female lead in Taanakkaran and it is directed by Tamizh, who is well-known playing the evil cop in Suriya's Jai Bhim. 

Taanakkaran also has Lal and MS Bhaskar playing important roles. The film has music by Ghibran and cinematography by Madhesh Manickam and editing by Philomin Raj of Master fame. 

Meanwhile, Vikram Prabhu also has Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku and Mani Ratnam's multi-starrer Ponniyin Selvan in the pipeline. 

Disney+Hotstar's last release was Karthick Maaran's Maaran, starring Dhanush and Malavika Mohanan in the lead.
