Director Karthick Naren posted a cryptic message on Instagram, on the day of his directorial Maaran’s release. He wrote, “Rightu. Unmaiya aprom solraen (Right. I will tell you the truth later)!!!” The Instagram post is speculated to be a reference to the controversy regarding a feud between Karthick and leading actor Dhanush. Rumors about the director being disrespected on sets, among other things spread on Twitter. 

Karthick did not appear for publicity events related to Maaran and has not spoken about the film or the OTT release. This is the director’s first statement about the film since speculations arose.

Maaran released on Disney+ Hotstar on March 11 and can be streamed now. It also stars Malavika Mohanan, Ramki, Smruthi Venkat in lead roles.
