The American National Business University has conferred an honorary doctorate to actor Vimal. After appearing in small supporting roles for films like Ghilli and Kireedam, the actor rose to prominence with Pandiraj’s Pasanga back in 2009. The actor subsequently went on to cement his place in the Tamil film industry as a leading man with films like Kalavani and the National Award-winning Vaagai Sooda Vaa.

The statement from the Wisconsin-based university read “We are delighted to inform you that we have perused your accomplishments and contributions from your resume that had been submitted to us. Your endeavours are brilliantly laudable. After carefully reviewing your application, our Academic Advisory Board is pleased to confer the title of “Doctor of Arts (Honoris Causa)” to you."

Vimal was last seen in the Zee5 crime thriller web series Vilangu. The series, written and directed by Prashanth Pandiyaraj, started streaming in February and received extremely positive reviews. The actor is currently working on multiple different projects.
