Rumour mills are abuzz that Rashmika Mandanna might play the female lead in the upcoming Pa Ranjith-directed Vikram starrer. The film, which goes by the working title of Chiyaan 61 for now, is reported to be about the struggle of workers who were slaved away in the KGF mines along with elements of magical realism. 

The film is produced by KE Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green along with Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions. 

Rashmika is currently working on Vijay’s highly anticipated Vamsi directorial Varisu and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule. She first forayed into the Tamil industry with Karthi’s Sulthan in 2021.

The production for Chiyaan 61 kick-started with a puja ceremony three days ago. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be officially announced and the makers are keeping details about the production under tight wraps.
