The inaugural ceremony of the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Vikram in the lead role, under Pa Ranjith’s directorial, took place in Chennai on Saturday.
The film is tentatively titled Chiyaan61.
Bankrolled by KE Gnanavelraja under Studio Green banner in association with Neelam Productions, the film will mark the maiden collaboration of the director with the actor. Billed to be a period drama set in the 19th century, the upcoming film will take place against Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka. The film is expected to talk about the lives of the people in that area. Chiyaan61 will be shot in these areas.
While the cast and crew is yet to be fully revealed, it will have music by GV Prakash. The film is expected to go on floors from mid-August.
Meanwhile, Ranjith is awaiting the release of Natchathiram Nagargiradhu. The film is set against theatre backdrop and stars Kalaiyarasan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Vinoth, Subathra Robert and Shabeer Kallarakkal, among others.
