The character poster of Jayam Ravi as the titular character of upcoming historical drama Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) was released by the makers on social media on Friday.
The teaser of the film is set to be released on Friday evening.
“Hail the Visionary Prince, the Architect of the Golden Era, the Great Raja Raja Chola…introducing Ponniyin Selvan!” the makers captioned Jayam Ravi’s poster who is portraying Ponniyin Selvan. The poster shows the actor wielding a spear and armour, as he sports an intense warrior look.
The film features a massive ensemble cast, including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Parthiban, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Shobita Dhulipala, Ashwin Kakumanu, and Prabhu, among others. In the past few days, the makers have released the character posters of Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini and Trisha as Princess Kundavai.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman. Ponniyin Selvan has been conceived as a duology, with the first part scheduled to release on September 30.
Backed by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the duology will release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
