Producer Dil Raju has revealed in a recent interview that the filming of his upcoming production venture starring Vijay, tentatively titled Thalapathy 66, will commence in March 2022. The producer added that the team of the Vamshi Paidipally directorial is currently aiming for a Deepavali 2022 release, and if the logistical challenges intervene, the film will instead arrive on Pongal 2023.

During a recent interview, the producer also shared that Vijay was impressed with the script and the team is giving final touches to the script. Further details related to the project are currently under wraps, but reports suggest that S Thaman will be scoring music for the film. Speculations were also rife that actor Nani has been approached to play the villain in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual, but there is no official word on the development yet.

Vijay, on the other hand, is expected to team with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Atlee for his upcoming projects. His next project, Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is currently set to release in April this year.
