Vemal to make his OTT debut with web series titled Vilangu

Actor Vemal is all set to make his OTT debut with a web series titled Vilangu. The series,  which is set to stream on ZEE5 on February 18, is directed by Prashanth Pandiyaraj, who earlier helmed GV Prakash Kumar's Bruce Lee.

The first look of the series was released by Sivakarthikeyan on his Twitter account.

Billed as an edge-of-seat investigative thriller, Vilangu features Vemal as a cop who has to investigate a mysterious crime. "We are so used to seeing police stories set in cities. However, in Vilangu, we will see how a police officer from a rural backdrop solves a mysterious crime in Trichy," says director Prashanth. On casting Vemal, the director says that he wanted to break the 'cop stereotype' that cinema has created. "I didn't want to show police like how they are shown in most of our cop films. I wanted them to look like an average cop we regularly come across. Vemal fits perfectly to the role."

The 7-episode web series has Iniya playing the role of Vemal's wife, while RNR Manohar and NIC Arts Chakravarthy play pivotal roles as police officers. Bala Saravanan and Munishkanth will also don the khaki and provide the comic-relief for the series.

Vilangu has cinematography by Dinesh Kumar Purushothaman (an associate of DOP Balasubramaniem), music composed by Ajeesh (Pambhu Sattai, Sarbath), and editing by Ganesh (of Koozhangal and D-Block fame).
