What to Watch This Week: From White Noise to Butterfly, a list of OTT releases this weekend

Butterfly- Disney+ Hotstar (December 29)

Butterfly stars Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role and is helmed by Ghanta Satish Babu who has also written the film. Aside Anupama, the film also features Bhoomika Chawla, Nihak Kodhaty and others in pivotal roles. Anupama's Butterfly is a thriller which will centre around a kidnap of two children. As Anupama's character goes to all lengths to find their whereabouts, the trailer features several intercuts of Operation Butterfly in search of the kids, with Bhumika playing a lawyer.

Gatta Kusthi- Netflix (January 1)

Featuring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles, this film is directed by Chella Ayyavu. Gatta Kusthi follows Veera, a male chauvinist, who marries Keerthy, a wrestling champion, without knowing about her real self. Karunas, Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, Redin Kingsley, Hareesh Peradi, Sreeja Ravi, and many others starred in the film. The film had a decent theatrical run and was widely appreciated for Aishwarya’s performance.

Kaleidoscope- Netflix (January 1)

The series is about a group of members planting explosives at various parts of an area, while they also plan for a heist, by breaking open one of the safest vaults in the world. It is to be noted that the series can be watched in any order. It is said that the series is loosely inspired by the real-life story of $70 billion worth of bonds going missing in Manhattan. Kaleidoscope will consist of eight episodes, with each named after a colour.

Rocket Gang – ZEE5 (December 30)

Rocket Gang is a fantasy comedy film directed by Bosco Leslie Martis. It features Aditya Seal, Nikita Dutta, Jason Tham, Mokshda Jaikhani, Sahaj Singh Chahal, Tejas Varma, Aadvik Mongia, Jayshree Gogoi, Dipali Borkar and Siddhant Sharma. The film promises to offer a roller-coaster ride of friendship, camaraderie, love and dance as five friends come across a team of ghost dancers on a mission to achieve their dream of winning the biggest dance competition.

White Noise – Netflix (December 30)

Directed by Noah Baumbach, White Noise will be an apocalyptic dark comedy adapted from the 1985 novel by Don DeLillo. The film is about a family grappling with love, death and an airborne toxic event. With Adam Driver playing the lead in the film opposite Greta Gerwig, White Noise also features Raffey Cassidy, André Benjamin, Alessandro Nivola, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Don Cheadle.

Gold- Prime Video (December 29)

Gold is directed by Alphonse Puthren, who marked his return to Malayalam films after seven years. The film features Prithviraj, Nayanthara, Ajmal Ameer, Krishna Kumar, Shabareesh Varma, and Chemban Vinod Jose in pivotal roles.
