As reported earlier, Karthik Subbaraj's next would be Jigarthanda 2, and the director has already started its preproduction. As per latest reports, the makers have cast Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan as the leads. The team is planning to begin shooting on December 11 in Madurai.

While SJ Suryah has previosuly worked with Karthik Subbaraj in Iraivi, Raghava Lawrence and Nimisha are yet to work with the director. Nimisha, known for her work in Malayalam films like The Great Indian Kitchen, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Nayattu, is making her Tamil debut with Jigarthanda 2.

Karthik Subbaraj has already confirmed that Jigarthanda 2 will not be a proper sequel as it will be dealing with a completely different storyline. The first part, a comedy-gangster film, featured Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran and Guru Somasundaram. The film was a commercial success that also won two National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Bobby Simha and Best Editing for Vivek Harshan.
