The teaser of August 16 1947, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Gautham Karthik in the lead role, was released by actor Silambarasan, on the occasion of Independence Day, on Monday.

The nearly-two-minute teaser shows glimpses from the film which is set against the backdrop of colonial time of India and struggle for independence. The film tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles the British forces. 

The film is written and directed by NS Ponkumar and backed by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary. The technical crew of August 16 1947 includes music by Sean Roldan, Selvakumar SK cranking the camera and Sudharsan on the edit.
