The third collaboration of Ajith, producer Boney Kapoor, and director H Vinoth, which is tentatively titled AK61, goes on floors. The official handle of Zee Studios, the production house of the film, tweeted a photo of the film's producer Boney Kapoor, cinematographer Nirav Shah, and director H Vinoth from the sets of the film.  The caption of the picture read, "Here's to another #AjithKumar action adventure. The shoot for #AK61 has begun!"

Other cast and crew details of the film are still under wraps. However, it is speculated that the film is about a bank heist. It is also speculated that Ghibran will be composing the music for the upcoming film.

Ajith, Boney, and Vinoth earlier made two films - Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai. Nerkonda Paarvai, the Tamil remake of Pink, received a good response from both audience and fans. On the other hand, Valimai received mixed reviews from critics. However, the film had a great run at the box office.

Ajith is also teaming up with Vignesh Shivan for a film after AK61. The project will have music scored by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his fourth collaboration with Ajith.

Tentatively called AK62, the film will be bankrolled by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions. According to Lyca Productions' official statement, the shooting of the film will commence by the end of the year and will release in mid-2023.
