The highly anticipated Valimai, starring Ajith Kumar, will be hitting screens on Pongal 2022. The film's producer, Boney Kapoor, took to Twitter to announce the release date. The news comes a day after the film's team released the first look of actor Kartikeya, who is playing the antagonist.
Valimai is directed by H Vinoth, marking his second collaboration with Ajith after the 2019 courtroom drama, Nerkonda Paarvai. Billed as an action entertainer, Valimai has remained one of the most awaited Indian films ever since its announcement in late 2019. The film's first look and motion poster were released earlier in July to the delight of the lead actor's fans after a long wait.
One song from the film, titled Naanga Vera Maari, was released in August and has garnered over 25 million views on YouTube so far. Produced by Bayview Projects in association with Zee Studios, Valimai has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while Nirav Shah has handled the cinematography.
The film also features Huma S Qureshi, Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, Pugazh, among others in supporting roles. Moreover, the film's first teaser is expected to be released shortly.
