Laabam's second trailer was launched during the press meet of the film. The event was attended by committee members of the FEFSI and director's union like RK Selvamani, RV Udhaykumar and Ramesh Khanna. Members of the cast like Prithvirajan and Ramesh Thilak, and the composer of the film Imman were also present.

Vijay Sethupathi, who has also co-produced the film, spoke last at the event with a tear-eye about the bond he shared with the late director SP Jhananathan. "I feel like a sinner for not spending enough time with him. His co-director Aalayamani and I were at the final dubbing works of the film. If I hadn't left, I would have saved him," said Sethupathi.

He added that Jhananthan taught him that films are not just meant to entertain people. "He keeps on insisting that films are meant to educate and agitate people. Films are a compilation of thousands of emotions  and the right film can change the life of people."

He ended his speech by reading transcripts of Jhananthan from his previous interviews. Laabam, co-starring Shruti Haasan and Kalaiyarasan, will be hitting the screens on September 9.
