Venkat Prabhu: Dhanushkodi will return in Maanaadu 2!

CE Features

Director Venkat Prabhu has revealed that the antagonist of Maanaadu, Dhanushkodi, played by SJ Suryah, is alive and he will return in the sequel. The filmmaker disclosed the information in the film's Thanksgiving spaces session which started today evening at 7 pm.

Venkat also went on to explain how the revival of the character (which was shot dead) is possible. "Abdul Khaaliq is the source of the loop. Since we have hinted that the loop resets in the post-credits scene, it is a given that Dhanushkodi is also alive as both of their souls are linked together."

He also shared that the Telugu actor Ravi Teja was initially considered for the role of Dhanushkodi, but, he wasn't able to be a part of the project due to a clash in his dates. SJ Suryah intervened and told him that Ravi Teja has recently expressed interest to play the role if the film gets remade in Telugu.

The event was attended by the cast and crew including Simbu, Venkat Prabhu, SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Premgi.

Silambarasan TR's Maanaadu is a time-loop thriller, starring Simbu and SJ Suryah in lead roles, which subtly addresses many political issues of the country. The film has opened to good responses both from the audience and critics.
