Despite the heavy rains and floods, Simbu's Maanaadu is reportedly doing well at the box office. Venkat Prabhu, the film's director, took to Twitter to thank the fans for the overwhelming response to the movie.

In addition to thanking the fans, the director also asked the viewers not to record the film on phones and share it on social media. He wrote, "Thank you one and all for the overwhelming love towards Maanaadu. We kindly request you all not to record scenes on your mobile phones and share them on social media! It's an offense! Let everyone enjoy the cinematic experience only in theatres."

The director has made the statement in reaction to many clips from Maanaadu making the rounds on social media.

Maanaadu is a time-loop thriller, starring Simbu and SJ Suryah in lead roles, which subtly addresses many political issues of the country. The film has opened to good responses both from the audience and critics.

It also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Daniel Annie Pope, Premgi, and Karunakaran. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the film.
