Suriya donates 1 crore towards the welfare of the Irula Tribe

Actor Suriya has donated a sum of ₹1 crore to the Pazhankudi Irular Trust. Suriya has met the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, along with his wife, actor Jyotika to hand over the cheque to Pazhankiudi Irular Educational trust. Justice Chandru, whose life events inspired Suriya's latest outing, Jai Bhim, filmmaker Tha Se Gnanvel, and members of the Pazhankudi Irular Trust were also in attendance.

Jai Bhim is a courtroom drama following real events that transpired in the '90s where innocents hailing from oppressed castes were framed for crimes they did not commit. Suriya plays the lawyer fighting for justice and equality. 

In addition to headlining the film, Suriya has also produced it through his production house, 2D Entertainment. The film also features Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, and Rao Ramesh, among others.

The film is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow.
