Cricketer Sreesanth has been roped in to play an important role in Vignesh Sivan's Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, starring Vijay Sethupathi. 

The news was announced along with a picture of the cricketer with Sethupathi earlier today. There are no details about the role he is playing in the film. 

Sreesanth made his acting debut with the Hindi film Aksar 2 in 2017. Following that he was a part of Team 5 in Malayalam, Cabaret in Hindi and Kempegowda 2 in Kannada. Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal marks his debut in Tamil. 

It may be noted that his contemporaries, Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh made their Tamil acting debuts recently. 

Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal has Nayanthara and Samantha playing the female leads. The film has music by Anirudh and it is expected to hit the screens early next year.
