Actor and model Meera Mithun was arrested by the Crime Branch earlier today, August 14. According to reports, when she was cornered in Kerala by the police, the actor indulged in a brawl before getting arrested. A video of Meera screaming at the cops and alleging that she is being harassed by them is being virally shared on social media.

She also threatened that she would kill herself if the police laid hands on her. Meera even appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the video, requesting them to help her.

Last week, a video of Meera spewing casteist slurs against people belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) was shared on social media. Based on a complaint by Vanni Arasu, leader of Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi, a case was registered against Meera.

Many netizens condemned her for passing casteist slurs and exhibiting hate and allegations against Dalits.

In the video, Meera alleged that a filmmaker stole her photo and used it for a film's first-look poster. She added that all the Scheduled Caste people in the Tamil film industry must be 'chucked' out of the system.

The Police has filed cases under sections 153, 153A(1)(a), 505(1)(b), 505 (2) of IPC and multiple sections under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
