Ahead of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s birthday on June 10, the actor’s 111th film was officially announced by the makers. Tentatively titled NBK111, the film will be directed by Gopichand Malineni, known for his work on commercial entertainers. The project is set to be produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner.

NBK111 marks the second collaboration between Balakrishna and Malineni, following their 2023 action drama Veera Simha Reddy, which was a box office success. The announcement poster released by the team features the image of a roaring lion, its face split between a metallic armour plate and a wild, untamed side, symbolising duality and intensity, which are expected to be themes in Balakrishna’s characterisation.

According to the makers, NBK111 will be Gopichand Malineni’s first attempt at historical storytelling. The script is said to blend grandeur, action, and historical themes, with the director aiming to present Balakrishna in a previously unseen avatar.

Further details, including the supporting cast and technical crew, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The film is currently in the final stages of pre-production. Malineni’s last outing was JAAT, while Balakrishna was last seen in Daaku Maharaaj. Meanwhile, Balakrishna is gearing up for Akhanda 2 coming out this year.
