The teaser of Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the sequel to the 2021 action drama Akhanda, will be officially unveiled on June 9 at 6:03 PM. The announcement was made by the makers on Sunday, timed to coincide with the birthday celebrations of lead actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who turns a year older on June 10.

Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam marks the return of Balakrishna as the titular character Akhanda, a fierce and spiritual vigilante figure that became a fan-favourite in the original. The sequel continues the collaboration between Balakrishna and Sreenu, whose earlier films together like Simha and Legend became blockbusters.

Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, Akhanda 2 is currently in production and progressing at a steady pace. Samyuktha plays the female lead in the film, while music is composed by S Thaman, who also scored the background music for the first instalment.

Akhanda was a commercial success and helped reinstate Balakrishna’s mass appeal, particularly due to its action sequences and devotional tone. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Balakrishna has been listening to scripts from directors of other languages to lock his further projects.
