Actor Rebecca Ferguson will star and produce an adaptation of Hugh Howey's dystopian novel series Wool.

The AppleTV+ series, produced by AMC Studios, will be written by Graham Yost (Masters of the Air) and directed by Morten Tyldum (Defending Jacob).

Initially, a film adaptation was supposed to be made in 2012 when 20th Century Fox was optioned the rights. Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian were attached to the project. Later, a project was in development at AMC with writer LaToya Morgan set to adapt.

Wool is a story set in a ruined future where a community exists in a giant silo underground. People live there in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Ferguson is all set to star as Juliette, an independent and hardworking engineer.

Yost and Tyldum will also executive produce with Ferguson and Howey. Remi Aubuchon, Nina Jack and Ingrid Escajeda are also attached as executive producers.
