Soorarai Pottru to be screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival

The 24th edition of the festival will take place from June 11-20

Suriya and Sudha Kongara's Soorarai Pottru has added one more feather to its cap. The film has now been selected for screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2021. 

The 24th edition of the festival will take place from June 11-20. Soorarai Pottru, along with other Indian films like The Great Indian Kitchen and The Wanderlust of Apu, will feature in the section known as Spectrum: Alternatives. 

Other Indian films to be screened in the festival include Satyajit Ray's Apu trilogy as part of their SIFF Classics: 4K Restoration. In their Highlights: Viva La Festival section, Mangesh Joshi's Karkhanisanchi Waari, Vinothraj's Koozhangal, Pushpendra Singh's Laila Aur Satt Geet, and Ivan Ayr's Milestone will be screened. 

Earlier this year, Soorarai Pottru was screened in the competition section of the Oscars. 

The film, also starring Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Karunaas, was released directly on Amazon Prime Video, and has been received warmly by critics and audiences alike.
