67th National Film Awards: Karuppu Durai's Naga Vishal bags award for Best Child Artist

Child actor Naga Vishal has bagged the National Award for the Best Child Artist for KD Engira Karuppu Durai at the 67th National Film Awards for 2019 that was announced today.

The film revolves around the relationship between an 80-year-old man (played by Mu Ramaswamy) and an 8-year-old boy (Naga Vishal). Directed by Madhumita, the film has music by Karthikeya Murthy and cinematography by Meyyendiran Kempuraj. 

"I didn't expect such a huge recognition for my work in Karuppu Durai. I am so excited and happy that I got this award. I just followed what Madhumita ma'am told me. All the credits for this honour should go to her and my mother," shares an elated Naga Vishal. 

Notably, the actor had also won the Best Actor in the Mumbai Jagran Film Festival, competing with the likes of Ranveer Singh, Ayushman Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal.

Meanwhile, Dhanush won the Best Actor (Shared) award for Asuran. The film also won the Best Tamil Film award. Vijay Sethupathi bagged the award for the Best Supporting Actor for Super Deluxe. R Parthiban's Oththa Seruppu Size 7 bagged two awards under the Best Audiography (Resul Pookutty) and Special Jury Award (R Parthiban) categories.
