Director Amole Gupte has posted a clarification regarding the poster of his upcoming film, Saina. The Parineeti Chopra-starrer is set to hit theatres on March 26. On Tuesday, the makers revealed the film’s poster and release date on social media.

However, soon after the poster dropped, it was trolled for mixing up a badminton serve with a tennis one. This led some to wonder if the film is a biopic of tennis player Sania Mirza and not badminton champ Saina Nehwal.

Re-sharing the film's poster, Amol Gupte wrote on Facebook: “Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster… 'looks like a tennis serve… Saina doing a Sania', etc, etc… If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!”

He also rued having to explain a ‘high concept’ poster to a reactionary world. “High concept poster by Rahul Nanda has to be unfortunately explained in detail to a quick reacting, impatient world… not stopping to think before rubbishing anything! Socho!” Amol wrote.
