Actor Sydney Lemmon has been roped in to star in Blumhouse's upcoming feature reboot of Stephen King's popular 1980 novel, Firestarter. Lemmon is all set to play the mother to Charlie, the lead character, and the wife of Zac Efron's character.

A remake of the 1984 film of the same name, the story revolves around a young girl who develops pyrokinesis and the secret government agency known as the Shop which seeks to control her.

It was previously reported that actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong (American Horror Story, The Tomorrow War) will play the lead role of Charlie.

Directed by Keith Thomas, the film is adapted to screen by writer Scott Teems. Other cast members include Gloria Reuben and Michael Greyeyes.

Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman are producing with Martha De Laurentiis as executive producer. Notably, Laurentiis was an associate producer on the 1984 Firestarter movie.

Lemmon was recently seen as Ana Helstrom in the Marvel/Hulu series, Helstrom. She previously guest-starred in HBO’s Succession and AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. On the film side, she was seen in Dan Gilroy’s Velvet Buzzsaw. She is set to appear next in the independent feature Plain Fiction.
