Venkatesh and Meena's upcoming film, Drushyam 2, is set to skip a theatrical run and release directly on OTT. "In view of growing concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, the makers of the thriller have opted for a direct-to-digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. However, the release date is yet to be finalised," says a source from the production unit.

Incidentally, Drushyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam thriller Drishyam 2, which was a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. It is a direct sequel to the 2014 remake, which starred Venkatesh in the role of Ram Babu, a cable television operator. In the sequel, Ram Babu, who is now a theatre owner, once again aims to outwit the police investigating the murder from the first film.

Unlike Drushyam, which was directed by actor Sripriya, Drushyam 2 will be directed by Jeethu Joseph, who helmed both the parts of the Malayalam original.

Drushyam 2 also features Nadhiya, Naresh VK, Sampath Raj, Kruthika, and Esther Anil in supporting roles. Music of the film is by Anup Rubens.
