JJ Abrams will be adapting DC Comics' Madame X as a series for HBO Max. Abrams has reportedly roped in filmmaker writer Angela Robinson, whose credits include Gigantic, Charlie's Angels, and Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, to write and executive produce the project. According to reports, Robinson might also be directing a few episodes, but there is no official confirmation on this.

In addition to Madame X, JJ Abrams' production house, Bad Robot, is also developing other DC adaptations such as the Batman: Caped Crusader, the animated title with Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm, and a new Superman movie, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Furthermore, Emerald Fennell, who recently won an Oscar for Promising Young Woman, is scripting Zatanna.

Meanwhile, Abram's last directorial, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker released in December 2019 to mixed reception.
