Ramayan actor Chandrashekhar passes away at 98

He had also appeared in films like Cha Cha Cha, Surang, Basant Bahaar and others

Veteran actor Chandrashekhar, who played the role of Arya Sumant in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan TV series, has passed away due to age-related ailments. He was 98.

The Indian Film and TV Directors’ Association (IFTDA) tweeted, “DirectorsIFTDA mourns the demise of Veteran Actor #Chandrashekhar. We pray to the Almighty to bless his noble soul and give courage to his bereaved family to bear the irreplaceable loss," posted Indian Film and TV Directors' Association.

Before his stint on Ramayan, Chandrashekhar had appeared in films like Cha Cha Cha, Surang, Basant Bahaar and others. He had written and directed Cha Cha Cha (1964), which marked the first starring role of veteran actor Helen. Chandrashekhar was also an associate of director Gulzar.

The actor’s funeral took place in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. He is survived by three children.
