Actor Jacob Latimore has replaced Jorge Lendeborg Jr to star in New Line's upcoming reboot of the 1990 cult comedy House Party. Latimore will star alongside Tosin Cole, in the film directed by Calmatic.

According to Deadline, Lendeborg Jr had to leave the project to focus on his mental well-being.

The original House Party film followed a high schooler (Christopher “Kid” Reid) sneaking out to his buddy’s (Christopher “Play” Martin) house party, in what turned into a wild night of antics, music and plenty of fun.

The film garnered major success at the box office and launched the career of writer-director Reginald Hudlin as well as of actors like Reid, Martin, Tisha Martin-Campbell, Martin Lawrence, AJ Johnson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and the musical group Full Force (Paul Anthony, Bowlegged Lou and B-Fine).

The new reboot is set to have a screenplay by Emmy-nominated scribes Stephen Glover and Jamal. The film is set to be produced by SpringHill’s LeBron James and Maverick Carter. Reginald Hudlin and Warrington Hudlin will executive produce along with Spencer Beighley and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill.

Latimore breakthrough performance came in the thriller film Sleight. He stars in Showtime’s The Chi, which is currently in its fourth season. He will soon be seen in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel and is set to shoot Panopticon alongside Shailene Woodley and Anthony Mackie.
