We had earlier reported that actors Nivetha Thomas and Regina Cassandra have teamed up for the Telugu remake of the South Korean film Midnight Runners (2017). The makers announced that the team has commenced the final schedule of the film earlier today.

Tentatively titled Shakini Dhakini, the action-comedy tells the story of two trainee female police officers, who bust a gang of kidnappers and human traffickers.

While the original featured two male actors in the lead, the Telugu remake will have two leading ladies in the titular roles. For the first time, both Nivetha and Regina are performing action sequences in this film.

Directed by Sudheer Varma, the film went on floors earlier in March, but the shooting was suspended due to the resurgence of COVID-19. The makers are planning to complete the entire shoot by August, and to release the film later this year.

Bankrolled by Suresh Babu Daggubati and Sunitha Tati in association with Hyunwoo Thomas Kim, Shakini Dhakini has music by Mikey McCleary.
