Danielle Deadwyler and Whoopi Golberg have boarded Chinonye Chukwu's feature film titled Till.

Till follows Mamie Till-Mobley (Deadwyler), whose pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son Emmett Louis Till became a galvanizing moment that helped lead to the creation of the civil rights movement. Mamie’s decision to have an open casket at her son's funeral, and to have Jet magazine publish David Jackson’s funeral photos, was driven by her motivation to ensure people across the world knew about what had happened to her son. Goldberg will star as Emmett’s grandmother, Alma Carthan.

The film has a script written by Chukwu, which is based on a previous draft by Keith Beauchamp and Michael JP Reilly. Notably, Beauchamp's made an award-winning documentary about the incident in 2005, titled The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till.

Till will be produced by Beauchamp, Barbara Broccoli, Goldberg, Thomas K Levine, Reilly and Frederick Zollo. The production of the film is slated to begin in September in Atlanta.

Deadwyler is known for starring in HBO's Watchmen, HBO Max’s Station Eleven, and Spectrum’s Paradise Lost. Goldberg is known for winning the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars for 1990’s Ghost. Her feature credits include The Color Purple, the Sister Act franchise, Toy Story 3, Ghosts of Mississippi, and The Player.
