Meghan Markle to create and produce animated series Pearl for Netflix

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is all set to create and executive produce an animated series titled Pearl for Netflix.

Pearl, hailing from Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions banner, centres on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who finds inspiration in a variety of influential women throughout history.

The Duke and Duchess’ are in a multi-year deal with Netflix, under which they will create scripted series, docuseries, documentaries, features and children’s series. Pearl is the latest to fall under the deal.

Markle will executive produce the series with David Furnish and Carolyn Soper. Emmy-winning filmmakers Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan. Amanda Rynda will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Notably, the news about Pearl comes just as Markle recently published her first children’s book, The Bench, on June 8.
