Suriya to produce the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru

Sudha Kongara, who helmed the Tamil film, is set to direct the Hindi remake

Suriya-starrer Soorarai Pottru, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video last November, is getting an official Hindi remake, the makers announced. Suriya, who produced the original version, will be producing the remake through his production house, 2D Entertainment, in association with Abundantia Entertainment. Filmmaker Sudha Kongara, who helmed the Tamil film, is set to direct the Hindi remake. 

Talking about the film, Suriya said in a statement, "The love and appreciation that was showered on Soorarai Pottru was unprecedented! From the minute I first heard this story, I felt this has to be a pan India film because the soul of it was such. It gives me immense pleasure to partner with Abundantia Entertainment, who have always made quality content, to tell the inspiring story of Captain Gopinath in Hindi.“

Sudha added, "I’m grateful for all the love we have received so far and look forward to telling this unique and amazing story in Hindi. I hope this official Hindi remake also gets the same love as the original”.

Upon its release, Soorarai Pottru was met with positive critical reception, and was also sent to 93rd Academy Awards as a paid submission under the general category.
