Actor Akhil Akkineni's spy-thriller Agent, which was announced earlier this year and was put on hold during the lockdown, began shooting today in Hyderabad. The film directed by Surender Reddy has Sakshi Vaidya playing the female lead. It is being bankrolled jointly by AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinemas.

"The film went on floors near Jubilee Hills on Monday. A few scenes involving Akhil are being shot currently. On Tuesday, the team will leave for Krishnapatnam Port, Nellore, to film crucial action sequences. Later, the team will shift to Europe to shoot important portions in multiple locations including London," says a source close to the development.

Vakkantham Vamsi, who earlier provided stories for films like Kick, Oosaravelli, Race Gurram and Kick 2, is on board as the story writer for Agent. Akhil has reportedly gone for a makeover and will be seen in a beefed-up look in the film.

Malayalam actor Mammootty is being approached to play the antagonist, while Ravi Kishan will be seen in a pivotal role. Agent has music by SS Thaman.
