The big-budget fantasy series Cursed has been cancelled by Netflix after just one season with the principal cast having been released from their contracts. Based on the illustrated novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler, the show was a retelling of Arthurian lore as seen through the eyes of Katherine Langford's Nimue, who would go on to become the Lady of the Lake in the ancient legends.

The first ten episodes of Cursed rolled out on Netflix last summer. Though it was ranked as one of the most-watched series for a while, it failed to capture the attention of the audience as they anticipated.

Covering themes like the destruction of the natural world, religious fanaticism, and cultural oppression, Cursed even touched upon a few sociopolitical subtexts.

Netflix recently cancelled an array of original episodic titles like Jupiter's Legacy.
