Pa Ranjith-Arya's Sarpatta to directly release on Amazon Prime Video

Pa Ranjith's upcoming directorial, Sarpatta, starring Arya in the lead, is set to skip a theatrical release and premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming giant took to social media to announce the release of their July slate of films, and it is now known that Sarpatta will begins streaming from July 22. 

Arya is playing the role of a boxer named Kabilan, while John Kokken is playing the role of Vembuli. The film also features Kalaiyarasan as Vetriselvan, Pasupathi as Rangan Vaathiyar, and Dushara Vijayan as Mariyamma.

The sports drama, also starring Santhosh Prathap, Anupama Kumar, and Sanchana Natarajan, has music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Murli G. Writer Tamizh Prabha has co-written the script of Sarpatta which is jointly produced by Ranjith's Neelam Productions and K9 Studios.

This will be Arya's second direct-to-OTT release after his previous film, Teddy, released on Disney+ Hotstar earlier this year.
