We had earlier reported that Sithara Entertainments has snapped the Telugu remake rights of Malayalam hit drama Kappela. The film was launched on Wednesday with a customary pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. Apart from the makers, director Trivikram Srinivas was present at the event. Siddhu Jonnalagadda, who rose to fame with Krishna and his Leela is reprising Sreenath Bhasi's role, while Arjun Das will step into the shoes of Roshan Mathew. The makers are yet to finalise the female lead of the film.

Kappela tells the story of a naive happy-go-lucky girl who falls in love with an autorickshaw driver. Complete with a social message, the Malayalam version garnered positive reviews from the audience and the critics alike after it started streaming on Netflix.

The film introduces Shourie Chandrashekhar T Ramesh as the director and the principal photography will commence in August. Music of the film is by Sweekar Agasthi.
