John Boyega and Robert De Niro are all set to star in the Netflix heist movie, The Formula. Gerard McMurray set to write, direct and produce the film. McMurray will also produce the project alongside Jane Rosenthal, De Niro, and Berry Welsh.

According to Deadline, The Formula will follow Boyega as a Formula One racing prodigy who is forced to become a getaway driver to save his family. However, De Niro's role in the film still remains unclear.

The Netflix film will mark the return of these leading actors to OTT platforms. De Niro last starred in Martin Scorsese’s 2019 gangster film The Irishman (Netflix), while Boyega most recently starred in the Red, White and Blue instalment of Steve McQueen’s Amazon Prime and BBC One anthology series, Small Axe. Boyega will also be seen in Jeremy Saulnier’s upcoming Netflix thriller, Rebel Ridge.

The Formula will also mark McMurray’s return to Netflix, after Burning Sands.

Aside from the aforesaid projects, Boyega has the Jamie Foxx-starrer They Cloned Tyrone coming up. De Niro, on the other hand, will soon be seen in The Comeback Trail. The veteran actor, who just finished shooting for Wash Me in the River, an indie film with John Malkovich, will also be seen in David O Russell's next film with Christian Bale and Margot Robbie.
