After a five-year hiatus, Kannada actor Upendra returns to Telugu cinema with a cameo in Varun Tej's upcoming boxing drama, Ghani. The S/o Satyamurthy actor will be seen essaying the role of a boxer in this film directed by debutant Kiran Korrapati.

The second schedule of the film is currently underway in Hyderabad. The film was scheduled for release on July 30, but the makers are now planning to either advance or postpone the film to avert a box-office clash with Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam. According to reports, Ghani may be released either on July 2 or sometime in September.

Produced by Allu Bobby and Sidhu Mudda, the film also features Bollywood actor Saiee Manjrekar, who made her acting debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3. She essays the female lead role in Ghani.
